CRUSADER GALA REPORT - Saturday evening saw the second round of division 3 of the Crusader League, although the first actual gala due to the one at Crewe having been postponed.  We had a very "new" team with the following swimmers attending their first gala representing Market Drayton: Joe Stone, Eloise Lamb, James Parton, Connor Bentley, Jack Healy, Lewis Danks, Saphina Tongue, Sam Mabbutt and Frances Derricutt.

We had some fabulous swims and came away with 17 new PBs, Joe Stone knocked an amazing 7 seconds off his 50 free time - well done Joe!  Dan Scriven came in first in the men's open 100IM, Ed Saxon in the boys U12 fly, the boys U12 freestyle relay also came first with Ed Saxon, Toby Cordova, Harry Riley and Alfie Thomas working excellently as a team.  Emma Scriven 1st in 12u girls breaststroke, Caroline Saxon in the ladies open freestyle, Dan Scriven in the men's open breaststroke and the men's open relay team consisting of Dan Scriven, Jack Booth, Richard Grindrod and Rob Wenlock came shooting home first by a clear 3 seconds.

Overall we came 4th with a score of 183, which considering we had 4 declared relay teams for which we would not receive any points, we did very well indeed.  Thank you to all who helped to organize the gala and all those who helped out on the night.  Without this help we would not be able to host a gala, thanks also to the Captains and Vice Captains for keeping the team motivated throughout the evening.

COUNTY SWIMMING GALA -    Ed Saxon swam for Shropshire in the inter county gala held at Fenton over the last weekend in January. His events were 4 x 50 medley relay where he swam the fly leg and the individual 50 fly, both in the 11 year age group. The relay was first and he gained a pb swimming 36.94.  He went on to swim another pb in the individual race with 36.86. This ranks him no. 1 for 50 fly in the county for 11 year old boys.

Presentation Evening Pictures - go to Gallery and click 'Medals for 2009' on the side bar. Thanks to Don Refern for taking these on the night.
