County Age Groups (CAG), Midland and National Qualifying Times

New to all of this? Below is a general overview, use the links on the side panel to find out the specific information for the current year.

Broadly there are three levels of swimming performance, the first is being able to compete in the County Age Group galas held over two/three weekends in Feb/Mar at Market Drayton Pool. To enter these you must have a recorded time that is better than the qualifying times - this can be at any club recognised gala e.g. Schools Gala, Club Time trials etc. Latest entry date is generally the preceding December and most swimmers use the Club Championships to get their entry times. Age is defined as on the last day of Counties.

The second level is to achieve a 'Midland QT'. Age is as of the Midland Youth Championships (15+) usually held at the 50m pool in Coventry in early May, even though younger swimmers (9-14) will be in the Midland Age Group Championships in early June, also at Coventry.  Your entry times MUST come from a recognised ASA level 1 or 2 meet.

The final level is a 'National QT'. These times are tougher still but the Meet requirements are the same. Latest date is end of May OR at the Midland Youth Championships.
