Market Drayton update

I am sorry to be way behind with information for the club. Everything has just been so hectic and I have not had time to sit in front of the computer, struggling to even do programmes at the moment!

Anyway this is an up date to try and do some catching up on swimmers and their achievements and everything else:

Fenton Manor – Cossacks gala Y2k + 6

We went small in numbers but gained quite a lot of silver wear and pb’s

This open was then closely followed by the Midlands and boy did we bake it was so hot in there, but everyone was fantastic. They were long hot days but the results held, everyone swam with grit and determination, Alex brought home his first Midland medal by achieving a fantastic 15 second pb in his 800 free to gain him a bronze medal.

Final update on events is the last Crusader League, which was held in the awful Leek pool barely deep enough to paddle in!!!  I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who swam so well on the night to help us to finish 2nd again so we should be safe from relegation. You all produced some amazing swims, with some very close finishes. Andy fought hard to pull back to 2nd. Alex to beat Mike Almond who touched him at our home gala, Courtney who threw herself into the 100 Back and gained a pb, and Rachael who left them all standing on the fly. I could go on and on you were all just outstanding, thank you.

We are having a few difficulties at the moment with Training as our regular slot at Cosford is temporarily on hold! We have been granted use of two lanes on a Friday night but it would seem that we have made the public very unhappy, so how long we will be able to maintain this I don’t know.

We have several swimmers who appear to be ready to move up in the squad and are desperately short of room so if anyone can come up with any suggestions PLEASE DO. Extra pool-time and some help in lobbying for it would be greatly appreciated, anyone prepared to take on some training and come on poolside to help

We need to look into fund raising for the club, can anyone help with this ideas and support in anyway.

Well done to Tim Kelly, Lesley Rumney, Steve Jones and Justin Scrivens for taking and passing the timekeepers course. Steve who is now also a qualified Judge with Lesley and Tim waiting to go and finish off with their practical exam. So fingers crossed for them.

We have been accepted into the Speedo league, dates for these are 14 Oct, 11 Nov and 9 Dec.  Check out the website for further details and a link to the Speedo web pages -Market Drayton will be hosting the first gala…….. so it’s is all hands on deck, we need people to help out with various jobs so if your interested please step forward, we will need raffle prizes, chaperones, someone to do the door, time keeper judge, poolside staff a runner and various other things, so let us know

We have a RELAY GALA coming up in September so please watch the board for that one

The club has also been accepted in the Deva league, details will be made available as soon as I have them.

Judith has details of an open for some of the younger swimmers, details were on the notice board

And look out for up and coming opens as the season begins again in September……..

Whitchurch have pulled out of the Sunday 4-5 session at Market Drayton so we are looking into how that leaves us with regard to having that hour water time in terms of cost etc.

During the summer holidays we need to organise something for the kids to do, any suggestions (sensible ones would be great) something other than swimming or football!!!!!!!

I don’t think there’s anything else to add, a massive thank you for David keeping the website up to date, I believe it was 165 new pb’s up to Sunday night, and here I am sending in several more sorry David!

Anyway I am signing off now, I don’t type that fast and this has taken an age……if anyone has anything they would like to put in a newsletter or if anyone would like to take it on?

Thank you for reading

Tracey
