Hi everyone, well this is your “regular” newsletter going out to all those parents (hopefully) bringing you up to date on what’s going on, dates for your diary lots of them and general news:
Dates for your diary:
It’s that time of year again and the club needs your support more than ever we are to have our ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING in September, your club needs you there to give ideas, back up and most importantly support. We can’t survive without you no –one will get thrown to the lions we are a bunch of pussycats really, it would be wonderful to see some new faces there and it is a fantastic way of finding out more about what we are. Watch the notice board for date and venue, and see you there.
COSFORD is closed from the 14th August until 2nd September. Can you start to come in September? Anyone got room in their car to share a lift? It is the chance to develop and grow, excellent pool £2.50 for an hour and a half, meeting on the car park at 5.45, again we really do need your support, go on give it a try who knows could even become a habit!
LAND TRAINING will restart on Tuesday 6th September 1st come 1st served room for 15 £1.50, to get hot and sweaty and have a good laugh at the instructor!!!!
POOL CLOSURE – no shouting from the rooftops you lot - the pool will be closed from 5th –16th September. This is nothing to do with the club they are shutting for maintenance work but don’t loose heart we will still have Cosford and Wrekin to turn to and it would be lovely to see you all support these sessions for the two week closure. You older swimmers really can’t afford to not attend, you never know you may actually like it.
WREKIN there will be no training over the August bank holiday at Wrekin Sunday 28th (yeah one less programme to write!). Other than that we are running every Sunday, once again we need your support this is a great session or £2 for an hour £3 for 2 hours – and a lane for those budding masters too
SEPTEMBER 17TH we have a gala and with the pool being closed it may be very difficult to notify swimmers they have been selected. Could parents please let the Coach know if they WON’T be available, we don’t have the details as yet but it is the Muriel Blaydon Bowl and I believe at Uttoxeter? Information will be made available as soon as possible check out the noticeboard
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS dates have now been booked and are as follows 30 October, 3, 5 & 6 November, check your diaries and keep those dates free, look out for entry forms rules and regulations coming very shortly. Remember they need to be returned payment with entry. Actual dates of events to be sorted soon……….
Stafford Apex long distance open meet, we will be targeting this meet, it is December 3rd & 4th, got your entry form? No? download it from the web ask the Coach entries to be returned to the Coach by October 1st, we aim to get in all the events YOU want to do.
Go on give it

Judith is looking into the possibility of going to Wrexham again with the younger swimmers in November so keep eyes and ears peeled for info on that open, it is a great day by all accounts so “watch this space”.
It is with
regret that I have to tell you that Judith will be cutting down her hours at
the pool after the summer holidays. It is going to be tough to follow in her
shoes but it is a job we now have to fill. Could this be you? Are you
interested in getting involved at the ground level and joining us on poolside?
Do you know anyone who is looking for some teaching work, there is a level one
training course at
Once again it is unfortunate that due to ever rising cost we are going to have to ask any travelling adult to make a contribution to the cost of the Coach when we attend galas, at nearly £160 a time it is very difficult to cover the cost. We won’t be using coaches unless it is absolutely necessary; it is likely to be £2.50 for all those travelling along with us, we are sorry to have to keep asking it is not an option we take lightly.
The MD website is really taking shape now Mr and Mrs Grindrod have done an amazing job of it and we are starting to develop a full and information packed site, anything you think we need to add to it, let us know go to:- http://www.mdswimclub.co.uk and take a look.
Our bid for Swim 21 has been submitted and we are now hopeful of a pass, and a massive thank you goes out to Judith for pushing us all along to get the work completed and submitted on time – fingers crossed we will keep you posted.
Oh and for all those who may be wondering what has happened to Geert, he has unfortunately broken his leg whilst playing rugby. We have sent him a card and passed on everyone’s best wishes from the club, see always said swimming was good for you Geert, you are missed and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Next instalment early September when we say our goodbyes to two club members, and with more dates for your diaries……watch this space, safe swimming
P.S. I am going to get all the testing results sorted and organised ready for the 9th September all of which will go on the web pages for you to compare and look for improvements??
